In Case You Are Wondering, Some Things
The idea for this business came to me earlier this year when I was hiring contractors to perform various services around my home. Time after time I would be going into relationships blind because the contractor did not have any kind of online presence. When I would inquire about the desire to have a website the answer was always the same: "I would love one but I do not know where to start". I have always helped friends with websites so it seemed a natural progression to one day expand to businesses and other organizations.
With the exception of three years working for IBM I am a life-long resident of Grand Island. I am a graduate of Buffalo State College and I have been an application developer for more than twenty years. I have been happily employed at a Buffalo-based company for more than ten years. My regular workday starts at 6 a.m. so I have plenty of time to take care of my customers later in the day.
First and foremost I am a family man. I am a father of three children and a husband for almost ten years. A few years back my wife and I welcomed three children within a span of eighteen months. Now that our children are a little older I have had time to pursue other interests.
Exercise has always been an important part of my life. On any given day I am either jogging along the river or sweating to a P90X video. I am also an avid movie watcher - few things please me more than finding an independent movie for our weekly movie nights.
Finally, I am a geek through and through. My most recent obsession has been with smart home automation and everything that comes with it. While being a developer requires me to be constantly learning about to keep up with the changes in technology I have been especially energized by combining my various interests into projects.
- I now have more than 40 devices in my smart home. This comes in handy when I need to open my garage door for a delivery when I am not home.
- I can get the current temperature of my pool and back yard by asking Alexa.
- When I hit my daily calorie goal all of the lights in the house flash (not everyone in the house is happy with this event).
- All of my daily health metrics (steps, calories, weight) are automatically logged to a google spreadsheet at the end of the day.
